Dong Nai Tourism- Specialties not to miss when coming to Dong Nai

Dong Nai Tourism - Dong Nai is a major province in the Southeast of Vietnam. It is known as a large fruit basket with a variety of specialty fruits such as durians, star apples, mangosteens and rambutan. However, if you come here, you do not miss enjoy specialties to understand the culture and people of this land.

Tan Trieu pomelo

According to the history, Tan Trieu used to be a poor and desolate region without any kind of specialty. However, in the late 19th century, local people began to extract grapefruits from two grapefruit trees of the churches to plant and propagate widely. Grapefruits grew very well more than a century here. Tan Trieu Pomelo suddenly becomes a famous grapefruit type. It is not only beautiful but also fragrant and sweet. It is a favorite food of many people and also is an ideal option for many people when choosing gifts.


Fish raw salad
Fish raw salad in Tan Mai village which is located along the banks of the Dong Nai River is delicious. 


Fishes like read tilapias, carps, and snakehead oscars can be made into tasty and attractive salads at the hands of skilled chefs in this land. Fish is sliced thinly, removed bones, cleaned, and placed on a disk. Then, a pot of boiling water is prepared. Now you only need dip the fish into the broth and serve with vegetables, rice crepes, and a sauce. You can eat comfortably without worrying about being bored.

Sour soup with river-leaf creepers

River-leaf creepers appear a lot in the east in general and Dong Nai in particular. They are sour and extremely suitable for sour soups simple or fancy. Dong Nai people only a bunch of fresh river-leaf creepers. Then, they wash and drain them. Next, river-leaf creepers are crinkled and put into a broth pot made from chicken, bones, or gobies. Finally, they add a little spice to make a sour soup sweet. It is simple but unique.


Bat meat
Because this land has fragrant flowers and fruits, it is home to many species of bats, especially during ripening seasons. Bats are particularly rich in Long Khanh. Local people prepare grids to hunt bats at night in the gardens and look to bats in caves during the day. This avoids bats from destroying crops and brings delicious dishes. Bat blood is drunk with alcohol. Bat meat is fresh when it is fried. This dish is nutritious for infants. Bats are also delicious when being baked.


Termite mushroom
Termite mushroom is a rare product. It grows only once during a year, usually in the beginning of the rainy season in fields and rubber plantations. This fungus should be processed by experienced people to become a delicious dish. After picking up, they must wash and dry mushrooms. Then, they cut mushrooms’ legs and soak them in salt water. Finally, they are washed and processed. This dish is sweet and aromatic. Mushrooms are also processed into many intriguing dishes such as porridge, bean pancakes, and grilled dishes. All are attractive and delicious. 


Fried crickets
Crickets usually live in caves and appear more in the rainy season. Because they are small, you only remove wings and legs when processing. Then, you put peanuts into their intestines, add spices such fish sauce and pepper before frying them in an oil pan. This dish is simple, rustic but extremely attractive. The crickets are crispy and fat.
